Biden protects illegal aliens who overstay their visas

President Joe Biden’s gutting of domestic immigration enforcement protects illegal aliens who overstay their visas from deportation, according to Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

In a letter to senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, obtained exclusively by the washington timeStephen Dinan, 19 House Republicans, accuses the Biden administration of using its so-called “sanctuary country” orders to protect much of the illegal population — especially those who have overstayed their visas.

The latest visa overstay report released by DHS this week found that from October 2019 to September 2020, nearly 685,000 foreign nationals who legally entered the United States overstayed their visas, becoming illegal aliens.

“Criminal activity alone is not enough to make an undocumented alien a priority,” the Republicans note of the orders:

Only “current” threats are considered a law enforcement priority, and only then usually due to “serious” criminal behavior. Additionally, only those attempting to enter the United States illegally after November 1, 2020 are considered border security priorities: it seems that those who have overstayed their visa and originally entered legally are no longer priorities for the application at all. As Breitbart News has documented over the past year, Biden has imposed sweeping so-called “sanctuary country” orders that prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from arresting and deporting most of the 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the United States. .

When rolling out the orders, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the orders ensure that “the majority” of illegal aliens in the United States “are not prioritized for deportation.”

In their letter, the Republicans note that the orders have resulted in a “dramatic reduction in domestic enforcement” along with a “security crisis along our southern border.”

“In fiscal year 2021, there were more than 1.7 million encounters along the southwest land border, the highest total on record,” they write. “And that number only represents real apprehensions. This does not take into account the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who escaped detection and made their way inside the United States.

Republicans are DHS officials to provide all data related to illegal aliens deported from the United States following the Domestic Immigration Enforcement and a breakdown of all criminal illegal aliens apprehended by law enforcement officers. ‘ICE, including their crimes and their countries of origin.

As Breitbart News reported, DHS has not made public its annual report that details the number of illegal aliens arrested and deported by ICE agents over the previous 12 months. Former ICE officials have suggested the agency diligently try to manipulate the data to make it harder to compare to past years of domestic enforcement.
