Biden hits Trump with biblical burn over his latest questionable business project

President Joe Biden criticized Donald Trump on Tuesday for his role in rolling back abortion rights – and at the same time managed to take a dig at the former president’s latest money grab.

“He described the Dobbs decision as a miracle,” Biden said, referring to the Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade. “Maybe it comes from the Bible he’s trying to sell.”

Trump peddled a $60 “God Bless the USA Bible” made with country singer Lee Greenwood.

“Wow! “”Biden said as the crowd jeered the plan. “I almost wanted to buy one just to see what was in it.”

What’s inside: The text of the Bible plus the lyrics to Greenwood’s hit song “God Bless the USA” – a mainstay of the Trump rally playlist – plus the texts of the Pledge of Allegiance, of the Bill of Rights and the American Constitution. and the Declaration of Independence.

The Trump-endorsed Bible received bad reviews and complaints about sticky pages.

As Biden noted, Trump hailed the court’s decision overturning Roe as a “miracle.” But the president said it wasn’t so much a miracle as a calculated deal with evangelical voters. If they ignored Trump’s personal flaws and voted for him, he would appoint the Supreme Court justices who would overturn the decision.

This is what happened as the three justices appointed by Trump now form the core of a conservative majority on the Supreme Court. Their decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization led to abortion bans in more than a dozen states.

“Trump bragged about how proud he was to get rid of Roe v Wade. He took credit for it,” Biden said. “He said there must be punishment for women who exercise their reproductive freedom.”

Trump called in 2016 to punish women who have abortions. He ultimately backed away from that proposal, saying states could instead punish doctors who perform the procedure, a position he reiterated as recently as this month.

Biden was campaigning in Florida as Democrats hope voters’ anger over abortion restrictions will help put the state Trump won twice in November back into play.
