Biden gives work permits to nearly 32,000 cross-border workers in two months

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has provided nearly 32,000 border workers with work permits, allowing them to be released inside the United States and to take up jobs in the United States , over the past two months.

DHS documents reviewed by Fox News’ Adam Shaw and Bill Melugin reveal the extent to which DHS uses the process known as “parole” to mass release border workers in the United States with the benefit of giving them working license.

According to reports from Shaw and Melugin, internal DHS documents show that the Biden administration has released in the United States and granted work permits to approximately 31,977 border workers using parole since August 6 – a maneuver intended only for cases involving humanitarian issues or of significant public interest.

Rodney Scott, the former head of the U.S. Border Patrol, suggested to Fox News that Biden’s DHS was abusing the agency’s parole authority with his mass releases:

“Under the law and regulations, parole is only granted on a case-by-case basis and only for important humanitarian or public interest reasons. None of these things seem to apply to the current situation, ”he said, adding that the number of parole releases called into question the review and approval process. [Emphasis added]

“As a field manager, I don’t think I’ve ever approved more than 5 or 10 parole in a year,” he said. “When I did, I made sure that the alien was under constant surveillance and that he was detained or deported as soon as circumstances permitted.” [Emphasis added]

Additionally, the documents show various subgroups of border workers who have been released inside the United States.

The documents, for example, indicate that nearly 95,000 border workers have been released with notification notices to the Immigration and Customs Agency (ICE) since March 20. Nearly 40,000 other border workers have been released on their own pledge since August 6 – the policy by which border workers simply promise they will appear at their future immigration hearings.

Last month, National Border Patrol Council Chairman Brandon Judd said more than 600,000 border workers have been freed inside the United States by the Biden administration since late January. These freed border workers join the more than 300,000 border workers who, according to DHS officials, have successfully entered the United States illegally in the past eight months.

Based on Judd’s estimate, the totals would indicate that an illegal alien population nearly twice the size of Vermont’s has entered the United States since Biden took office.
