Bhajan Lal Sharma is the chief minister of the new BJP government in Rajasthan – Firstpost

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s name for the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister was decided in a meeting held at the BJP office in the presence of the party’s three central observers led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The BJP has chosen senior MP Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new chief minister of Rajasthan. He is the MP from Sanganer.

Bhajan Lal Sharma, a Brahmin and a newbie, is a long-time BJP worker. He was the party’s general secretary for the state of Rajasthan.

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s name has been elected as the leader of the legislative party and will be the chief minister of Rajasthan, following the victory of the BJP in the recent legislative elections.

Speaking to the media, Rajnath Singh said that the Rajasthan BJP legislative party meeting was held on Tuesday. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje proposed Bhajanlal Sharma’s name as the legislative party leader, which was accepted unanimously.

Who is Bhajan Lal Singh, the new BJP CM for Rajasthan?

Bhajan Lal Sharma, 56, is the first time MP from Sanganer, a Brahmin-dominated seat in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He was given a safe seat.

Sharma belongs to Bharatpur but was given a ticket from Sanganer after denying a ticket to sitting MLA Ashok Lahoty.

He is the longest serving general secretary of Rajasthan BJP and he belongs to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)

Bhajan Lal Sharma will have two deputies, Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa.

Vasudev Devnani will be the Speaker of the Rajasthan Assembly, Rajnath Singh announced.

Earlier on Tuesday, a meeting was held at the BJP office in the presence of the party’s three central observers led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The other two observers are Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey.

The BJP defeated the incumbent Congress government in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections.

Out of the total 200 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly, polling was held for 199, including 115 for the BJP, while the Congress got only 69 seats.
