BGT 2024 viewers weren’t too happy with the fact that the show’s wild card was dog number The Trickstars.
The ITV show returned to screens on Sunday June 2 for its 2024 finale. Performers including dancing duo Abigail & Afronitaaa and impressionist singer Mike Woodhams all took to the stage in a bid to win the £250,000 prize, as well as a place at the Royal Variety Performance.
Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli were also on hand to judge the final performances.
However, early in the series, it was revealed that this year’s wildcard group was The Trickstars – and fans were divided on the decision.

The Trickstars is a dog act featuring Lucy Heath and her team of incredible dogs. She had already finished in the top three in the first semi-finals earlier this week.
But she was brought back for the live finale on Sunday June 2 – and she definitely delivered a breathtaking performance with her four-legged friends.

Confirming the news of The Trickstar’s return, Simon said: “You know, the conversation lasted 20 seconds.
“We all said the same act, so it was a very, very, very easy decision.”

However, fans watching at home weren’t too impressed and were quick to share their thoughts on X.
One person fumed: “A (expletive) dog acts as a wild card. All these talents they could have selected. Someone else added: “Embarrassing decision.”

A third wrote: “I’m outraged that Bloody Dog Act is the wild card, there were so many better performances and choices they could have made in BGT.”
