During the 2024 BET Awards, 20 years after the iconic 2004 ceremony hosted by the iconic actress Mo’Nique, black celebrities walk the red carpet. Tonight’s looks are bold and unique, and showcase the myriad generations of black culture. On this special evening, many black women will perform, from Victoria Monét to Meg Thee Stallion, and their performances are highly anticipated, making this year’s awards ceremony another iconic ceremony.
One of our favorite actresses, Niecy Nash, stepped out in a bright blue ensemble with a plunging neckline that was typically Hollywood, paired with matching gloves. Taraji P. Henson stepped out in a gold chain maxi dress designed by Balmain. She added a gold chain choker and a matching bracelet. Singer and actress Halle Bailey showed up and showed off in a black leather dress with halter details and a glamorous train for added pizzazz. One half of the Mowry twins, Tia, wore a pretty sheer black dress with floral appliqués all over.
The men also came out of the woodwork to show us what they had in terms of style, and they did not disappoint. Actor Coleman Domingo stepped out in a suit that was pleasing to the eye. The fabric and ombré effect were similar to a trompe l’oeil design. Country star Shaboozey kept it classic, wearing a Western-inspired beige suit with a horse brooch fastening at the front and a bolero tie around his neck. Iconic rapper and producer and former ESSENCE Culture Festival performer Jermaine Dupri wore a sleek black and white look with a varsity jacket paired with cargo-style shorts and black studded loafers. Our May/June 2024 cover star, Usher, wore a simple look to accept his BET Impact Award tonight. Her white top and blazer were teamed with blue jeans and a pair of black pointed-toe shoes accessorized with black sunglasses.
