Inasmuch as Born and raised Hawaii residentNavigating Maui’s beauty was both a privilege and a joy.
While serving as a guide for dear beings who have visited, I designed a list of essential attractions and identified places that are not up to media threshing or, in some cases, may even present risks.
So consider this list as a local perspective on the best ways to appreciate the wonders of Maui – and which places or activities could be worth saved.
Discover an authentic Lauau in Lahaina
A read gives an overview of Polynesian culture Through traditional cuisine, music, dance and perceptive education on history and cultural practices.
The award Old Lahaina Luau has always been a personal favorite. Although the property has undergone fire damage, it has since reopened and continues to welcome guests with its famous Aloha spirit.
Leave Luau’s staff and artists – many of whom are long -standing residents of Lahaina – transport the public over time to Hawaii with the peaceful ocean as a serene backdrop.
The evening includes a captivating performance associated with a meal with several wicks with dishes such as the Houmous of the local origin (bread fruit), Kalua pork cooked in an IMU (traditional Hawaiian underground oven) and fresh fish captured.
Explore rare landscapes and vegetation to Haleaka National park

One of my favorite activities growing up on Maui was to spontaneously drive to Haleakala National Park (which shelters the island sleeping volcano) To look at the sunrise.
The park is an ideal place for a sunset or a daytime hike, whether you want to try a short walk to a view or a day’s hike in the crater.
Drinking at sunset and ocean organic vodka cocktails
Nestled on the slopes of Haleakala is an 80 acres organic farm and a distillery that produces Oceanic biological vodka And other alcohols, including my favorite, Kula Rum.
Customers can make a guided tour of the farm and the distillery followed by tasting.
Alternatively, head directly to the Al Fresco Cafe to the point to taste dishes like Poke Nachos, the Teriyaki chicken sandwich and a range of cocktails. With its panoramic views of the Maui landscape, it is the ideal place to catch a sunset.
Connect with the local community of Maui Arts & Cultural Center
MAUI Arts & Cultural Center is a place of education and entertainment, including performance of Hawaiian music and dance as well as cultural programs and exhibitions of galleries.
Certain remarkable events include the Slack Key Guitar Annual Festival, with live music and the Maui Brewers Festival, with tastings of beer and food.
In addition, there are shows of renowned musicians, actors and much more all year round.
Have a family pleasure at Twin Falls
Water at Twin Falls can be refreshing during hot days. Ashley Probst
This quiet hike on the Wailele farm includes various waterfalls and freshwater pools that are fun for all ages.
The path to the upper falls is only about a round trip to the mile and is an ideal place to immerse yourself in some of the The natural wonders of Hawaii.
The family and exploited farm also cultivates more than 350 species of tropical plants. Try a taste of fresh products such as mangoes, lilikoi (passion fruit), coconut and more – which are all available for purchase at the Wailele farm stand on the property.
Make sure you check the conditions of the trails before leaving, as there may be closings due to floods.
On the other hand, do not play in the waves of Makena State Park
Makena’s state park, also known as Big Beach, is a popular place for experienced surfers, but I do not recommend coming here if you want to float or go swimming.
The shore can be dangerous and the powerful waves frequently create dangerous conditions. Although there are sometimes rescuers in service, even experienced swimmers can find it difficult to follow the waters here.
The waves can be fun to play, but the risk simply is not worth the potential reward.
Be excited to drive on the road to Hana
Hana is my favorite place on earth, but the road to get there is treacherous, with dozens of bridges on a track and hundreds of curves, many of whom are on the edge of a cliff.
This trip is not recommended for novice drivers or those who are inclined to have the singer. Parking is also a problem, because narrow roads do not provide much space to stop.
Instead of driving yourself, remember to book an official visit with a professional guide if you want to visit the Road to Hana.
It is better to see the nakalele blowing hole remotely
Nakalele Blowhole may be better seen from afar. Ashley Probst
The Nakalele Blowhole is a natural marvel caused by the waves of ocean pulling through a tube of underwater lava to create a geyser’s beak.
It is certainly a show to see, but seeing it closely requires a hike on a rocky land. This can be dangerous if you have children or other curious souls who could venture too closely and slip on the rocks or if (the worst case) are sucked.
Instead, remember to simply take advantage of water spraying remotely.
A hike Waihee Ridge Trail can be great, but only in the right conditions
The Waihee Ridge path is magnificent but capricious. The trail usually has one of the two extremes: it is warm and sunny with a minimum shade or covered with slippery mud on a steep slope without view from the top due to thick clouds.
Even my friend who is a passionate hiker was not inclined to hit the Waihee Ridge path during his visit.
It is only worth this hike if you go early in the morning per day with good weather. Otherwise, your trek can be much more trying than it is ultimately worth.
Let black rock jump to professional cliffs divers
Black Rock is pretty but I would not suggest diving. Ashley Probst
At the northern end of Kaanapali The beach stands black rock, which is a Popular cliff jumping point About a dozen feet (or more in certain places) above the water.
It is frequented by the inhabitants as well as by the employees of the hotel who light torches along the rocks before diving into the water at sunset most of the evenings.
However, diving of the cliffs can be extremely dangerous, especially when carried out without precautions, supervision or preparation.
Even if you don’t seriously injure yourself, it’s always painful if you hit water badly and you are sure to hear commented cries of spectators – something I know from personal experience.
There are also strong currents around Black Rock, so please carefully consider to enter the water.
