“Now Russia is trying to cause even more destruction in Ukraine and kill even more people,” Zelensky said. “Putin has only one mechanism of influence, that of destroying lives. He is not capable of doing anything else.”

Zelensky added that Putin had “done everything” to disrupt the peace summit planned in Switzerland in June and prolong the war.

“The peace summit needs President Biden,” Zelenskyy said, referring to US President Joe Biden who has not yet committed to attending. His absence would benefit Putin, Zelenskyy added.

On Tuesday, Belgium also pledged its support to Ukraine throughout the 10-year duration of the agreement. The agreement covers a wide range of support, including modern armored vehicles, air force equipment, naval security, mine clearance and military training.

Belgium has committed to supplying the 30 F-16 fighter jets before 2028.

Zelensky’s visit to Belgium was initially planned earlier but had to be postponed due to the advance of Russian forces in Ukraine.
