Johnson comes to Chicago after leading one of the league’s most prolific offenses. In each of his three seasons coordinating Detroit’s offense, Johnson’s group finished in the top five in total offense, including second in 2024. Last season, Johnson’s leadership propelled the Lions averaging 409.5 yards per game offensively, a franchise record, as his unit’s 68 total offensive touchdowns were the most of any team in the NFL.
Johnson spent six seasons in total with the Lions, starting in 2019 as part of offensive quality control. In 2021, Johnson added coordinator responsibilities mid-season, earning the full-time offensive coordinator position for the 2022 season, the same season Detroit won eight of its last 10 matchups to close out the year. Prior to Detroit, Johnson served seven seasons on the staff of the Miami Dolphins, working under three different head coaches.
