While Burden has mainly seen the action as a slot receiver in Missouri, the Bears will expect it to play inside and outside, a responsibility that it is ready to assume, adding: “I have the impression of adapting perfectly to their offense.”
“We see him as a guy who can play both, honestly,” said Ackley. “With what we are trying to build with coach Johnson, it’s multiple, everyone moves, so you can’t fight. This can open the offensive. So he adds right away. I think he has the running route and physicity to win outside, I think he has the separation capacity and the hardness of winning inside.”
Burden is now joining a receiver room that includes DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Tyler Scott and Olamide Zaccheaus, but the most familiar face he will see in Halas Hall is the quarter-rear Caleb Williams.
Although the couple never played together, they had to be Oklahoma teammates in 2021 before the burden is disintegrated and chose Missouri. Since then, Burden has kept an eye on Williams and has watched a majority of his matches.
Burden said he was “a big fan” of Williams and wishing to work with the overall selection of last year.
“I know a lot about (Caleb),” said Burden. “Me and he were supposed to be teammates before. So the world works in a mysterious way. So, I am excited to finally unite with him and get to work.”
