Bayern Munich sporting director downplays rumors of a transfer offer for Tottenham striker Harry Kane next summer

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has quashed speculation linking the German champions with a transfer for Harry Kane.

The Bundesliga outfit have long been admirers of Kane and the sale of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona has added fuel to the fire.

Kane, 29, is yet to agree a new contract at Tottenham, with his current deal set to expire in 2024.

Bayern have been keeping tabs on the England international with reports suggesting the Bundesliga giants are set to launch a sensational bid next summer as long as the Spurs hitman does not extend his stay in north London .

But Salihamdizic told reporters he doesn’t think Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn is pushing for the Englishman to move.

“I don’t think Oliver Kahn is forcing Kane to move, you can all step up a gear,” Salihamidzic told the German reporter. Philippe Kesler.

Kane was linked with a move to Manchester City last summer before the Premier League champions finally agreed a deal to bring Erling Haaland to the Etihad Stadium.

After a slow start to last season, Kane’s form has improved following the arrival of Antonio Conte as manager.

The England captain performed superbly under the Italian coach and helped shoot Tottenham to Champions League qualification.

But Kane is yet to decide his future and will have a big decision to make in the coming season before entering the final 12 months of his contract next summer.

If by next summer Kane still hasn’t found a deal with Spurs, European football’s heavyweights should lead the hunt for the striker.

Kane has had an impressive start to the season, scoring five times in six games, with Tottenham third in the table ahead of this weekend’s trip to Manchester City.
