Victory was achieved on 28 occasions, with Alonso’s side sealing the title by mid-April, ending Bayern Munich’s 11-year reign.

But they went one step further on the final day against Augsburg to make history in the German top flight, with their unbeaten run in all competitions this season stretching to an incredible 51 matches.

Leverkusen joins an elite list of Invincible title winners across Europe, including AC Milan in 1992 and Juventus in 2012, as well as Arsenal in 2004 when they won the Premier League after winning 26 matches and made 12 draws.

Leverkusen have won 82.4 percent of their Bundesliga matches this season, compared to just 68.4 percent for the Gunners in the Premier League during the 2003/04 campaign.

And fans on social media think Leverkusen’s achievement is better, with one taking to X to say: “Wipes Arsenal by far.”

“Bayer Leverkusen erases Arsenal’s invincibility!” » added a second in agreement.

A third said: “I think Bayern Leverkusen’s unbeaten run is better than Arsenal’s. Keep in mind Bayern have won their league 10 years in a row, I’m surprised they never stayed undefeated during this period.”

“Leverkusen’s record is zero all over Arsenals.. The Germans haven’t lost in any game in any season.. Arsenal lost in the cup that season,” said a fourth.

The German side are also undefeated in the DFB-Pokal and Europa League, while the Gunners have been beaten in the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League.

Another impressive factor in Leverkusen’s success is preventing Bayern from winning a 12th consecutive league title.

Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka smiles as he asks a question about how to stop Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane winning the title.

However, it is worth pointing out that a Bundesliga season has 34 games, while a Premier League campaign has 38 games.

It remains a testament to their incredible work under Alonso, who reiterated his commitment to the club in the face of interest from Liverpool.

Next comes the Europa League final against Atalanta on Wednesday evening before the DFB-Pokal final against 1. FC Kaiserslautern three days later, which could see them claim a treble in a superb 53-match unbeaten run in all competitions confused.
