“While Barron is honored to have been selected as a delegate by the Republican Party of Florida, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” Melania Trump’s office wrote in a statement to ABC News.
The Florida Republican Party announced earlier this week that the former president’s son had been chosen as one of the state’s delegates, alongside other members of the Trump family who have taken a more active role in the Trump campaign, including Trump’s eldest sons, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump.
Barron Trump, who is set to graduate from high school next week, has yet to join his father on the campaign trail this cycle, keeping his distance from the political spotlight.

During an interview with a local Philadelphia radio station, Donald Trump said Barron loved politics and suggested he even offered him political advice.
