Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs live commentary: UK start time, team news and talkSPORT coverage as Super Bowl champions begin historic triple-header bid

The NFL is back for the 2024-25 season, and the Kansas City Chiefs begin their quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl title against the Baltimore Ravens this week.

The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada to become the first back-to-back champions since the New England Patriots in 2004.

However, no team has ever won three consecutive Super Bowls, so a piece of history is at stake for Patrick Mahomes and company.

Baltimore, which had a solid 2023-24 season, winning 13 games and losing four, is a familiar opponent that will be looking for revenge.

The Maryland-based franchise saw its Super Bowl dreams end at the hands of the Chiefs in the playoffs in January.

But with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, they hope to reach the finals this time around.

The Ravens are without outside linebacker Adisa Isaac with a hamstring injury, while running back Rasheen Ali has a neck issue that has limited his practice.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have plenty of injury concerns.

The tallest of them is Hollywood Brown, who has a shoulder injury and has not trained.

He’s one of their best receivers, so if he misses it would be a big problem.

Elsewhere, Nazeeh Johnson, Curtis Jones, Joshua Williams, Nick Bolton, Wanya Morris, Derrick Nnadi, Joe Thuney and James Winchester have all returned to training.

Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs: What was said?

After losing to the Chiefs in the playoffs last year, Jackson is eager to play, although he doesn’t see it as a revenge game.

He said: “Every game I play, I feel like it’s a revenge game.

“I’m not going to look at this game as a rematch. No matter who we play, no matter if we beat them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win.

“We have to win regular season games (to) get to January.

“We can’t just start the season 5-12 because then we’re not in the playoffs. We’re thinking about the playoffs, but at the same time, we have to win this game that’s ahead of us.”

“I’m ready to go. I’ve been fighting my guys for weeks.

“It’s time to go against someone else.”
