Charlotte Hornets Lamelo Ball’s star will miss the rest of the season as he undergoes two minor procedures to solve the good ankle and wrist problems, the team announced on Friday.
According to the Hornets, Ball will undergo arthroscopic surgery on an impact of the right ankle and will have a procedure on his right wrist.
Ball had played pain in recent weeks before he and the team consult the doctors in the best action plan, sources said in ESPN. Team doctors and outside specialists have concluded that procedures will allow Ball to heal and have complete and productive off -season.
Ball, 23, has treated ankle injuries in recent years, missing at least 25 games in each last three seasons after playing 75 career games in 2021-2022.
He underwent surgery on his right ankle in 2023, and it was the second consecutive year that the Hornets closed the ball on March 28. He was held for the rest of the 2023-24 season to rehabilitate his right ankle after recurring problems after a sprain in November 2023.
The decision for the 2024-25 season ends the year of Ball career by scoring 25.2 points per game. He also collected an average of 7.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds in 32 minutes in 47 games this season.
Ball is the first player in the Hornets to make an average of 25 points and seven assists in one season, and he made six franchise games with 25 points and 10 assists, according to ESPN Research. Ball had the second highest rate of use in the NBA.
The Hornets (18-54) have the third NBA record but have accumulated a major capital project, acquiring six choices since October. Charlotte has all her first round choices in the years to come and has a total of 11 first round and 13 round choices in the future.
Charlotte was successful with alignments with Ball, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Mark Williams, but their property was limited due to injuries.
Miller missed time with injuries, including an ankle sprain, before undergoing a wrist operation on the right at the end of the season in January. Bridges was released almost a month with bone bone on the right knee, and Williams began the injured season before a potential trade with Los Angeles Lakers passed on a failed physique.
