The first phase consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and packaging and physical rehabilitation only.
But it is much more than that.
“It’s great because it is the official start of the new year,” said recipient Calvin Austin III. “It’s a time when you can enter and meet the new guys and have your first idea of the team.
“It’s just good to be here because the only way to improve is to be in the building and work. To establish these links and the connections with people, you have to be inside the building, work and see them. It is only the beginning. It is just the first time that you show who you are for everyone, not just coaches, but also your teammates.”
For the second Payton Wilson, who is starting his second season, participating in the full offense program for the first time is ideal.
“I’m delighted to be back,” said Wilson. “We have a lot of people here. I am excited for this year.
“It is a time of construction of massive culture. If you can get as many people as you can here at that time of the year, it is the teams that are generally closest, obviously the most talented, but the nearby teams still persevere, and they take place and this fundamental phase certainly helps this.”
Wilson said it was night and day this year of his recruit season, when he didn’t know what to expect.
“It’s a completely different world,” said Wilson. “Last year, it was just a lot, going from the college season to go and train and the project and be here. You haven’t really had a break. So now I’m filling up with my mind, resetting and I’m ready to help this team win the Super Bowl.”
