Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte accidentally injured assistant referee Gary Beswick during the first half of their Premier League match at the London Stadium on Sunday.
The Spanish centre-back stepped on the official’s foot and left him in need of medical treatment but luckily he was able to continue.
Beswick fell and needed treatment
The funny incident happened at the start of the first half.
As the ball came to the near sideline, Laporte was among a group of players struggling to keep it in play and gain possession.
In the end, he bounced back with the Hammers and Laporte started chasing and joining his defense.
In doing so, while looking in the opposite direction for the ball, he inadvertently pinned Beswick, who stumbled to the ground as a result.
At the next stoppage of play, he dropped his flag and went down.
He was then treated by the West Ham medical team.
Some joked that Laporte was lucky to avoid a booking
While this happened, he received little sympathy from those around him.
Referee Anthony Taylor was seen laughing at the situation.
West Ham manager David Moyes jokingly accused him of diving.
And home fans chanted: ‘Are you dressed as Grealish?’
In the end, he only caused a brief stoppage, getting back to his feet to get the game going again.
Laporte ran over to him, shook his hand and gave him a small hug as an apology.
