Axne asks Pelosi to correct inflation after claiming there is no problem
Representative Cindy Axne, Iowa’s only vulnerable Congressional Democrat, turned the tide of inflation on Thursday, calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to pass legislation that addresses the lingering problem of supply chain, which caused a massive increase in inflation.
Axne joined a group of vulnerable Democrats in a letter calling on House Democratic leaders to address the current supply chain crisis and surging inflation by swiftly passing legislation. Vulnerable House Democrats wrote that they were “concerned about the continued disruptions in our nation’s supply chain, causing delays and increased inflation for our constituents.”
Axne, before trying to come off as a champion of the supply chain crisis, argued for months that inflation was a ‘bogus advertisement’:
- In June, when asked if Republicans were wise to warn about inflation if the federal government kept spending during a live TV appearance, Axne said: so no, I wouldn’t be d ‘okay with that.
- In July, during a town hall, she said that “the economy is on the right track” and talk of inflation raises “false advertisements”.
- In September, Axne went on to assert that “things would get better day by day” referring to rising gas and food prices.
