Axne asks Pelosi to correct inflation after claiming there is no problem

Representative Cindy Axne, Iowa’s only vulnerable Congressional Democrat, turned the tide of inflation on Thursday, calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to pass legislation that addresses the lingering problem of supply chain, which caused a massive increase in inflation.

Axne joined a group of vulnerable Democrats in a letter calling on House Democratic leaders to address the current supply chain crisis and surging inflation by swiftly passing legislation. Vulnerable House Democrats wrote that they were “concerned about the continued disruptions in our nation’s supply chain, causing delays and increased inflation for our constituents.”

Axne, before trying to come off as a champion of the supply chain crisis, argued for months that inflation was a ‘bogus advertisement’:

  • In June, when asked if Republicans were wise to warn about inflation if the federal government kept spending during a live TV appearance, Axne said: so no, I wouldn’t be d ‘okay with that.
  • In July, during a town hall, she said that “the economy is on the right track” and talk of inflation raises “false advertisements”.
  • In September, Axne went on to assert that “things would get better day by day” referring to rising gas and food prices.

Meanwhile, Axne voted for the US bailout in February, which former Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers said was “poorly targeted and risked overheating the economy,” in addition to Bank research. Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco who indicated that the passage of the bill played a role in the price hikes.

The letter Axne signed to said Congress should act to help families across the country see higher prices and touted their passage of the disastrous $ 1.2 trillion infrastructure bill – which the President Biden enacted – and the $ 1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act, also known as the Democrats’ Reconciliation Infrastructure Bill. Axne voted in favor of both.

However, the letter, reported by Punchbowl News, appeared to fail to mention the $ 1.75 trillion bill that was widely viewed as “trademark legislation” for Biden’s legislative agenda, would in effect raise taxes on the government. middle class of “about 20 to 30 percent.” according to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center and extend and prolong the effects of inflation. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has revealed that Biden’s “trademark legislation” would add $ 750 billion to the US deficit over five years.

“After months of falsely claiming inflation was not real and voting to make the crisis worse, Cindy Axne now claims to care about rising prices by writing meaningless letters,” the spokesperson said. Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC) Mike Berg spoke to Breitbart News. “Instead of empty letters, Cindy Axne should stop voting as a full socialist.”

Republican candidate from Iowa’s third congressional district and state senator Zach Nunn (right), who runs against Axne at the midpoint of next year, said Breitbart News Saturday that Axne is only loyal to Pelosi and not to Iowans.

Nunn argued that Axne never received more than about 48% of the popular vote in an election, adding that “she doesn’t even run in some places in Iowa anymore, because she doesn’t. ‘not a single friend here but also because she doesn’t care,’ indicating that she is more loyal to Pelosi and the Democratic donors in California.
