The authorities published the name of a man on Thursday who, according to them, brandished a firearm when the San Diego police killed it at the end of last month.
He was identified as Eric Kulakow, 59, from San Diego, according to Lieutenant Fox du Sheriff. The Sheriff’s office investigates the police shootout under a county protocol to prevent agencies from investing in their own officers.
According to the investigators, someone called 911 shortly afternoon on March 25 to report a man pointing to a weapon on people on Angelique Street, south of Scripps Poway Parkway. Consumer files indicate that Kulakow lived on a bag in the area where the incident occurred.
Fox said the man reportedly reported a semi-automatic handgun for construction workers, then a worker of antiparasitic. Construction workers fled and the worker of the antiparasitic control has locked himself in his work vehicle.
When the man failed to comply with the police, the San Diego Police Swat team and a negotiation team were called, Fox said.
As the police were trying to save the worker from the antiparasitic struggle, Kulakow pointed to the police, said Fox. Two members of the Swat team opened fire. Kulakow died on the scene.
