Gunmen opened fire on Israeli vehicles in the West Bank, killing three and wounding eight. Benjamin Netanyahu promised to find “the vile assassins”, affirming that this attack will not go unpunished. So far, no Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
“My wife and I send our deepest condolences to the families of the three people murdered during this morning’s terrible attack and wish the victims a full recovery,” Benjamin Netanyahu said on January 6 on X shortly after an attack in the West Bank which left three dead and eight injured.
The Israeli military said gunmen “opened fire on a bus and civilian vehicles” near the village of al-Funduq. She claimed to be “in pursuit of terrorists”, to have blocked roads and surrounded several surrounding towns.
According to Israeli media I24, the vehicles targeted “were traveling on Route 55 between the Israeli towns of Karnei Shomron and Kedumim.” According to the same source, “two women around sixty years old and a man around 40 years old” were killed. “Eight other people were taken to hospital” including the bus driver, a 63-year-old man “seriously shot” in the legs and abdomen.
“We will find the vile murderers and settle accounts with them and anyone who helped them. No one will go unpunished,” said Benjamin Netanyahu. So far, no Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Tension has been growing in the occupied territories since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel, with the IDF intervening in a sustained manner to neutralize the Hamas and Islamic Jihad cells present in this area. Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority also operates in the area against Gazan Islamist groups which have gained popularity since the events of October 7, 2023.
