In a Buffalo News article, journalist Mike Harrington argues that Buffalo Sabers should name Brendan Shanahan To a main advisory role, if only for a year. Recently, it has been confirmed that Toronto’s Maple Leafs would not renew the Shanahan contract, and since then it has been publicly linked to the New York islanders.
While the islanders were authorized to interview Shanahan, there is no indication of the remaining interest, especially after having hired Mathieu Darche As Director General and Executive Vice-President of Hockey Operations yesterday. Sabers would be the only team remaining looking for a high -level executive this summer. Harrington noted that EliTe Friedman of Sportsnet has reported Buffalo’s interest in adding a main advisor to work alongside Kevyn Adams.
The rental would make sense. The sabers have appointed Adams as a recruited director general before the NHL 2020-2010 season, and the needle did not move for the One Iota organization. Toronto did not go to the final of the Eastern Conference during the 11 years of management of Shanahan, but it is more that the Sabers cannot say, which missed the qualifying series for 14 consecutive years.
