Atlanta United has fired head coach Ronny Deila, the club announced on Sunday (October 19). A global search for a new permanent head coach will begin immediately.
“It was evident that our level of play had not been met this season, and together with our management team, we decided that it was in the best interest of Atlanta United to move the team in a different direction. Ultimately, we owe our fans a much better product on the field and it is our unwavering commitment to deliver that to this community as soon as possible,” said Garth Lagerwey, CEO and President of Atlanta United. “We would like to thank Ronny for his time and commitment to the organization and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Deila joined Atlanta United in December 2024. In her only season in charge, Atlanta United went 6-18-13 in all competitions.
Atlanta United will hold its annual season-ending press conference later this week at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground. More information will be distributed soon.
