Killer Mike, a rapper, songwriter, actor and popular activist from Atlanta advocates for an end to gun violence after someone shoots down a barbershop he owns.
Killer Mike, real name Mike Render, posted on his Instagram page about the shootout that took place this weekend at his barbershop on Roosevelt Highway in the town of South Fulton.
Mike said two groups of men were shooting at each other when stray bullets hit his building. He posted several photos showing broken glass from damaged windows.
In the post, Killer Mike asked people to think about the consequences of gun violence.
“I mean tho brothers. Please consider what would have happened if either of you actually bumped into each other. Prison, attorney fees, funeral costs and the loss of two black families. I’m glad you didn’t hit the side of a barn with a shotgun because you’re all alive.
Mike said they are in the process of reopening the business later this month. Due to the shooting, they will now have to postpone the reopening of the barber shop.
In May of last year, Mike launched a passionate plea for an end to the violent protests in Atlanta following the police shooting of George Floyd.
In honor of Black History Month, CBS46’s Karyn Greer interviewed Killer Mike about how he gives back to the community that made him famous.
