ATLANTE — A house fire in Atlanta killed two people over the weekend and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating, the agency said Sunday.
The fire involved natural gas, according to a tweet from the NTSB, which investigates pipeline accidents.
A statement from the fire department said crews responded to a home in northwest Atlanta around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 3, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Atlanta Fire Department officials said a gas leak was discovered in the front yard after crews extinguished the blaze.
According to other reports, Atlanta Gas Light, the Southeast’s largest natural gas distributor, attributed the cause of the fire to the leak. Firefighters said the origins are still under investigation.
