At least 16 people were injured after a truck driver intentionally crashed into the Texas Department of Safety building the day after his permit application was denied.

An unnamed motorist drove the 18-wheeler into the state building in Brenham, 75 miles northwest of Houston, around 11:17 a.m. following a police pursuit.

Texas DPS said the suspect was arrested and there was “no further threat” to the community, while police said the truck was stolen.

Police added that the accident was deliberate, although the suspect has not yet been publicly identified.

Three medical helicopters were called to transport the seriously injured to hospital after the accident. The driver refused treatment at the scene, according to Abc13.

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough said the crash was intentional and the suspect was denied a commercial driver’s license the day before.

“Pray for our Texas DPS as they deal with a mass casualty incident in Brenham with a major vehicle accident in their office. No word on injuries yet,” he said on Facebook.

“Update: I have been informed and this incident was intentional and committed by the suspect who was denied a CDL yesterday. He came back today with the intent to do harm.
