Aston Villa fans left dreaming of unlikely Jeremie Frimpong transfer after social media video

Bundesliga champion Jérémie Frimpong has made Aston Villa fans dream of the unthinkable this summer.

The flying full-back was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen winning their first German title in the top flight.

With 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most exciting defenders in world football.

It has been claimed that the Netherlands international has a £34m release clause in his contract which will become active this summer.

And a return to England could begin, with Frimpong a product of Manchester City’s youth academy before leaving for Celtic in 2019.

Villa fans will be hoping they are the ones to secure his services following a social media video that went viral.

In a clip that made the rounds online, Frimpong could be seen dancing while wearing Villa’s home jersey from this season.

The reason he donned this jersey was because it was named after his former Leverkusen teammate, Moussa Diaby.

Frimpong and Diaby spent two and a half years together at the BayArena, before the Frenchman moved to the Midlands last summer.

Yet the Villa faithful have jokingly urged the winger – and compatriot Leon Bailey who played alongside Frimpong for six months before joining the Villans – to try and convince the right-back to sign.

Speaking to X, one user said: “If Moussa Diaby helps bring Frimpong to Villa he needs a £5m bonus I think.”

Another message: “Need agents Léon and Moussa.”

A third added: “The work is doing wonders, Moussa.”

This fan then simply declared: “G’wan Agent Diaby!”

And this supporter quipped: “Follow Bailey and Diaby to Villa”.

Frimpong is expected to be at the center of a transfer battle this summer with leading European clubs reportedly keen to sign him.

Manchester United are known to be long-term admirers, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona also interested.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move, it remains to be seen whether Frimpong will follow Xabi Alonso in deciding to stay at Leverkusen.
