Aston Villa fans hail paramedic hero who saved fan’s life after suffering cardiac arrest during Conference League clash with Olympiacos – and urge club to award him with a lifetime membership

Aston Villa fans have urged the club to hand over a “lifetime” season ticket to the woman who sprung into action to save a supporter who suffered a cardiac arrest during their clash with Olympiacos on Thursday night.

The UEFA Conference League semi-final match was delayed after the incident occurred just before half-time, with supporters evacuated from the lower stand at the Holte End at Villa Park.

A medical team was quickly dispatched to help the stricken fan who had collapsed as fans dispersed from the area after the public address system urged them to clear the space to allow treatment.

And soon after, a photo emerged online of a woman running towards the scene of the incident as fans pointed out that she had helped save the man’s life and asked for help to find out who she was so that she could be rewarded.

A caption accompanying the photo read: “This is the woman who performed potentially life-saving CPR on L2 this evening. Find her. @AVFC is offering him a free lifetime subscription.

One fan claimed the man had caused “someone of an age you would never expect to have a cardiac arrest” as he joined calls for her to receive a lifetime subscription.

“Somehow losing a game doesn’t seem too important at the moment,” he said after Villa were beaten 4-2 by the Greek side.

As the incident unfolded, a black screen was held up by members of the emergency services as they attempted to shield the individual from the view of the thousands of people inside the stadium.
