Assemblyman Clyde Vanel said he landed the plane at the nearest safe location as he practiced maneuvers in his plane.

A plane piloted by a Queens Assemblyman made an emergency landing along Shoreham Beach on Long Island after suffering an engine malfunction.

“As per my training, I landed the aircraft at the nearest safe location, while trying to minimize damage to persons or property. I am grateful that I was able to depart without injury,” said Vanel in a message. on Twitter.

“FAA training on emergency procedures works. For all my fellow pilots, follow emergency procedures – it will save your life,” he added.

The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that a single-engine Beechcraft V35 made an emergency landing on Shoreham Beach, New York, due to a reported engine problem around 2:15 p.m. Friday. Two people were on board the flight.

The FAA said it would investigate the incident and issue a preliminary report.
