Assassin’s Creed remakes are on the way, Ubisoft confirms

Ubisoft has announced that it has several remakes of older Assassin’s Creed games in the works, which will help speed up the franchise’s release schedule and allow “Assassin’s Creed games to come out more regularly.” The news comes in a new interview with CEO Yves Guillemot, who, in response to a question about the future of the series, explained: “First of all, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games that we’ve created in the past and modernize; some of our older Assassin’s Creed games still have extremely rich worlds.”

Previous entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise have received somewhat basic remasters – like Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations in The Ezio Collection – but none have received a complete overhaul in the form of a remake that goes further.

Since the start of 2024, there have been numerous reports of Assassin’s Creed remakes in development at Ubisoft, the biggest being a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. At the time, it was claimed that another title in the series was being remade, which is now confirmed with this new interview. Yves Guillemot then added that alongside these remakes, the goal is to have a lot of variety in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

“Secondly, to answer your question, there will be a lot of diversity. The goal is for Assassin’s Creed games to come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year,” he explained. “There are a lot of good things coming, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we announced, which will be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’ll surprise people, I think. »
