As the FIFA World Cup approaches, Amul takes a ‘trip down memory lane’ with old hot topics
Amul dairy brand has always attracted attention with its unique marketing strategies. Now that the FIFA World Cup has arrived, the brand has gone down memory lane through some of the old World Cup topics. Sharing the video, the brand wrote: “Let’s get ready for the biggest #football festival in the world by taking a trip down memory lane with #Amul Topicals! The video shows the brand’s first-ever FIFA-related subject created during the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Amul also paid tribute to legendary soccer player Diego Maradona, who played for the Argentina national soccer team winning.
Over the years, the brand has created unique doodles on trending topics from around the world. Be it Virat Kohli’s outstanding performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup or Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday. The brand also mocked French midfielder Zinedine Zidane. The player received a red card for headbutting Italy defender Marco Materazzi during the 2006 World Cup match in Germany. In 2010, the brand made a news item about singer Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).
