This showdown between two of boxing’s best has been highly anticipated for several years, but has now been delayed.

Beterbiev unfortunately suffered a torn meniscus and requires knee surgery, meaning the fight will take place later this year.

Bivol could face a new opponent and he could still be part of an impressive card featuring Deontay Wilder, Daniel Dubois and more.

This huge fight was scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 1 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The fight has, however, been postponed, with a new date yet to be confirmed.

The card will continue to exist and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and DAZN in the UK.

Beterbiev vs Bivol: What was said?

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, announced that the fight had been postponed to May.

He said: “After receiving today’s news regarding Beterbiev’s injury, we will postpone the Beterbiev vs. Bivol fight scheduled for June 1 until later this year.

“I wish my brother Artur a speedy recovery.

“However, the 5v5 event is still happening on June 1st.”
