Arsenal looking to raid Newcastle for star striker Alexander Isak amid rumours of £100million offer

Arsenal have been linked with a stunning £100million bid for Alexander Isak – and there is truth to the rumors.

The Newcastle striker is reportedly at the center of a transfer battle between the Gunners and north London rivals Tottenham this summer, according to The Sun.

talkSPORT’s Transfer Notebook has already told you that the Magpies will be forced to cash in on one of their best players to raise money for summer signings to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Now talkSPORT football correspondent Alex Crook has confirmed there could be serious substance to the Magpies receiving a £100million bid from Arsenal for Isak this summer.

“I think there’s a little bit more to it than that (it’s a rumor),” he said.

“Under current profit and sustainability rules, as far as Isak is concerned, there would need to be a big offer because they paid £60m for him.

“The whole point of PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules), in their current form, is that you have to give the impression that you are making a profit on your transfers.

“So there’s no point selling it for £80m, it’ll only be a £20m profit on the balance sheet.

“I think if someone puts in a £100m offer then Newcastle will have a decision to make. I think there is substance to the Arsenal rumours.”

Newcastle will likely be even more keen to cash in on the fans’ favorite if they finish outside the European places, with them currently in eighth, five points off the top six.

On the possibility of Isak leaving recently, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said: “He’s an exceptional talent and no one connected to Newcastle would want to lose him.”

Isak also admitted during the international break that “if things come up, things can happen.”

The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals and registered one assist in what has been a difficult season for the Sweden international, who is struggling with a groin injury.

He was in fine form during Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 win over West Ham – scoring two penalties while providing the assist for Harvey Barnes’ opening goal.

Since signing in 2022 from Real Sociedad, Isak has made 58 appearances for the club, scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are linked with Gunners goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale – which could see Nick Pope sold.
