Arsenal are keen to sign RB Leipzig all-round star Tyler Adams, according to reports.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad, with the departures of Martin Odegaard and Daniel Ceballos, while others will be sold in the coming weeks.
The USA international has impressed since joining the Bundesliga and has made 37 appearances in all competitions, providing quality assists and defensive contributions.
The 22-year-old, according to The Athletic, is seen as a right-back option, but he offers versatility as he can fit into the middle of the park, another area Arsenal could use for cover.
And with Mikel Arteta passionate about reverse full-backs, he matches the very specific needs of the Spaniard and Hector Bellerin a possible outgoing.
Leipzig, however, could be reluctant to sell their player after they have already agreed to ship Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate.
Adams is currently four years on his contract, and the Germans will not feel any pressure to step into that transfer window.
It’s an important summer for Arteta and the Gunners have already missed a transfer target, Emi Buendia.
Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit believes his former club need to make some serious changes to ensure they don’t make the same mistakes in the transfer market.
He said: “How many times have they been wrong to buy players from Arsenal? Defenders, Mustafi, Sokratis, with the same talent. They were adding players on top of players, but there was no difference between them.
“It’s the end of the street for them. Make changes, you must. It has been the case for a few years, but what have they done?
“It’s not about the money because they have the money.”
