Arsenal fan’s excuse for Emirates atmosphere leaves talkSPORT presenters in fits of laughter

talkSPORT pundits Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara couldn’t help but laugh at an Arsenal fan’s excuse for Wednesday’s poor atmosphere.

Arsenal took the lead in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Luton Town on Wednesday night, but you could hear a pin drop at the Emirates.

While praising the Gunners for their good play, O’Hara and Cundy criticized the home fans and asked Arsenal supporters to call talkSPORT Drive on Wednesday evening to explain themselves.

John made contact and left both men laughing at his bizarre excuse.

Arsenal fan John said: “I’ll make a point. It’s a midweek game, lots of families are away for the Easter holidays…”

At this point, O’Hara burst out laughing before Cundy interjected: “John, put the phone down.”

“Wait, John! Wait,” O’Hara stammered through laughter.

“John, did you just say that? Are you cheering me up? It’s a midweek game and the families are away on vacation? Are you cheering me up?”

John defended himself: “I’m a season ticket holder, I didn’t recognize anyone there tonight.

“All the people I usually sit with weren’t there. Everyone had to sell their tickets to a bunch of tourists who were just sitting there clapping and smiling.”

Cundy couldn't contain his laughter after learning the mood at Arsenal was bad because of the Easter break.

But it was no use, O’Hara was gone and he burst out laughing: “He said it was quiet there because everyone was on vacation!”

Cundy chimed in: “You blame the chocolate eggs!”

Later in the show, another Arsenal fan called in and defended his compatriot earlier in the night by hurling insults at Cundy and O’Hara.

Arsenal fan Scott said: “I have to say the atmosphere tonight was really disappointing, but over the last two seasons this place has been really busy.

“Now you’re not old enough to remember the time we played at ‘Highbury the Library’ and, with all due respect, one game in almost three-quarters of a season n It’s not bad because it’s flat.”

O’Hara asked, “But why is it flat?”

Sarcastically, Cundy interjected: “It’s Easter vacation, J! Come on. The kids are eating too much chocolate.”

Scott then insisted: “No, no. It’s people’s attitude, that’s all.”

Arsenal are locked in a three-way title battle with Liverpool and Manchester City and are currently winning, although they still have eight games to play.

While the Gunners were criticized for their support on Wednesday night, they were also reprimanded for celebrating too much this season.

But if they win the Premier League, they will be able to celebrate however they want after 20 years without a league title.
