Chicago officials say hospitalizations and arrests have declined year over year during the annual Lollapalooza music festival, with fewer than 20 arrests reported during the four-day event.
Officials said refined security measures helped reduce the number of arrests and citations this year, with 15 total arrests and eight additional citations issued during the festival, which ran from Thursday to Sunday.
A total of 68 bystanders were taken to area hospitals with various ailments, according to Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications officials.
Arrests were down from 2021, when 19 spectators were arrested, and 31 were arrested in 2019, according to OEM data.
Hundreds of thousands of people attended the four-day event, with bands like Green Day, Metallica and J. Cole headlining the festival.
