San Jose – A suspect was arrested after a man was shot in a city street on Saturday evening, according to San Jose police.
The shooting was reported at 7:06 pm in the 700 block of Locust Street in the Washington-Guadalupe district. Police said police who responded had found a man suffering from at least one ball injury. He died of his injuries on the scene.
An investigation which followed determined that the alleged victim and shooter knew each other and the detectives quickly identified a suspect. Around 3:25 am Sunday, police served an arrest warrant in a house in the south of San Jose and arrested the suspect, which the police did not appoint publicly on Monday.
The name of the victim was not released pending his official identification and notification of his closest parent by the office of the medical examiner of the county of Santa Clara, who was closed on Monday respecting the day of Cesar Chavez.
The murder marked the fifth homicide of the year of the city investigated by the San Jose police. The city had recorded 10 homicides by the same point in 2024.
