Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, plans that the smile will soon return to Mo Salah while the Egyptian tries to avoid his worst goalless race for more than two years.
For most players, four goalless club games would not be unusual, but that has not happened in Salah during the same season since February 2023.
However, after Blanks against PSG, Newcastle and Everton, the 32-year-old man tries to end his mini-scheres against Fulham on Sunday.
“Sometimes the list of elements is more difficult than other periods,” says Slot about his starry man.
“PSG is one of the best teams in Europe at the moment. Newcastle was everywhere on us in the final of Carabao and Everton was so difficult with 10 people in their own box of 18 yards all the time.
“I know Mo, he lives for goals. It would be weird if it was happy not to score, but probably its greatest quality is that it can play a bad game and always mark that its head is not everywhere.

The boss of Liverpool Arne Slot is not too worried about the recent period of drought of Salah in front of the goal
“This is why he marks as much, because he wants it so much. Yes, there were probably periods this season, he smiled a little more, but it’s not just him, they are all the players.
Salah is the top scorer of the Premier League this season with 27 goals and ratings to win a fourth Boot of Gold – equaling the current record shared by Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer.
More importantly, the 1-0 hard victory disputed over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday maintains the comfortable advance of Liverpool at the top of the table.
Slot was particularly satisfied with how his players were not distracted by the failure of the officials to send the skipper of Everton James Tarkowski for a potential leg for Alexis Mac Allister.
“I saw us playing better football and reacting better when bad decisions were made by the referee,” he said.
“I also saw us being firmer in the tackle and winning duels than in the League Cup final.
“These are the ingredients we need to win a Premier League football match and the players are aware of it.”
