Arne Slot admits wants to become new Liverpool manager and is confident agreement will be reached

Arne Slot has revealed he would like to become Liverpool’s new manager as part of the search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

Klopp shockingly announced in January that he would be leaving the Reds after almost nine successful years in charge at Anfield.

Since then, various names have emerged as potential suitors, with Feyenoord boss Slot the latest to be linked.

Liverpool have started talks with his current club over a deal to bring him to Anfield, and the Dutchman is keen to join.

Speaking to ESPN by Fabrizio Romano, he said: “I would like to become the new manager of Liverpool, my decision is clear.

“Feyenoord and Liverpool are in talks to negotiate, I’m waiting to see what comes out of it. I am confident, I am waiting for the clubs to find an agreement.”

Slot, who turned down Tottenham last summer, won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord last season and the KNVB Cup earlier in the current campaign.

The 45-year-old is considered one of the highest-rated managers in Europe and now appears determined to move to Liverpool.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, who played for the Reds, was quickly one of the favorites for the job following Klopp’s announcement.

However, his links with a return to Anfield were eventually severed when he committed his future to Leverkusen.

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim was the next big name to be linked with a move, but talkSPORT reported earlier this week that the move was unlikely.

The chances have even been reduced for Jose Mourinho to sensationally join after being spotted in their 3-1 win over Fulham last weekend.

However, Slot is the favorite to take over next season and kick off a new era at the club.

If he succeeds Klopp, he will follow a man who brought the club success in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
