Arjun Erigaisi “excited” to participate in the Esports World Cup: “he will open many doors” – Firstpost

Returning to the action in the Parisian leg of the Grand Chelem tour of Freestyle chess, where he will participate alongside his good friends of Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa, the Grand Master Indian Arjun Erigaisi turns his attention to the Esports World Cup. The World Cup will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year, when the board game will appear.

The Esports World Cup enters its second year, having been staged for the first time in the Saudi capital in the months of July and August of last year, and had presented a variety of games – from Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends to Ea FC.

The organizers adding online failures to the list of games this year, it was natural to expect an Indian participation in the event, given how Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa and Arjun are dominating the scene at the moment and are among the first 10.

Arjun, who signed with the main world team from Esports Gen.G, is certainly excited for the event, where the experience will be very different from what it is normally used as a professional chess player.

In an exclusive conversation with First postWarangal’s grand master of 21 years also highlighted the positive impact that the appearance of failures during the Esports World Cup could have on sport, especially when it comes to making it more popular among the younger crowd – especially players.

“Yeah, certainly. I think there are a lot of people who do not follow other sports, but who follow ESports a lot. So, I think that for each of them, it is a chance to look at the failures, which is very good for sport. So this definitely opens new doors.

“Failures can be played not only as an exaggerated physical sport, but also as an e-sport and this is completely unique to failures like no other sport can be played in this way. I am therefore happy that it happens and I hope it will become huge and will open many doors,” said Arjun First post.

Erigaisi reveals the role of Carlsen and Nakamura by presenting him the Esports World Cup

Arjun also revealed how the failures features Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura, classified respectively first and second in the current ratings of Fide, contributed it to the Esports World Cup which then led to its association with Gen.G – an organization of professional esports with a head office in Santa Monica, Seoul and Shanghai.

“So, I first got to know the Esports World Cup when Magnus and Hikaru spoke, like the end of last year.

“We had some discussions, then we decided that I will play for them and I am so happy to have made this decision. In addition, these are the champions of League of Legends and it is their first time with failures, and I am so happy that they have chosen me and I will do my best to make them proud,” said Arjun, currently fifth in the world and also someone who becomes the second Indian.

Training for time control without incitement

Among the unique challenges of failure of failures during the Esports World Cup that Arjun is eager to conquer is the lack of increment, which is standard for all other formats of the game – classic, fast, blitz and even random failures or fischer freestyle recently introduced.

Exclusive | “Freestyle failures permanently the future of sport, but not in the next 10 years”: Arjun Erigaisi

For Arjun, his preparation for the World Cup will revolve around training for time control without intention and time pressure management.

“So one of the essentials here is that there is no increasing. It therefore makes a huge difference in the format and everything because as when there is no increment and you are in time pressure, it is like a completely new game when even when there is at least a second increment, it is still quite different.

“So, I think it’s a lot of training for time control without intention and manage how to play quickly in time pressure,” added Arjun.

“Factors like cheating are greater concern”: Arjun on online failures

The star of Indian chess has also underlined some of the differences between online failures and online failures, adding that cheating is a major concern with regard to the first. The controversial great American master Hans Niemann, who was involved in a longtime quarrel with Carlsen, Nakamura, as Chess.com, had admitted having cheated in online games in his first years.

Apart from that, there are also factors such as the ability to quickly make movements with his mouse – with which Arjun thinks that some can have trouble, especially in shorter formats – as well as the internet connection and the server’s response.

“With online, there is this advantage as just sitting at home and playing. It’s always good when you can just be at home and play. But there are also other factors such as cheating is a greater concern. There is also the mouse factor. Some people can play very quickly with their mouse and everything cannot do it.

“And also the Internet connection. I have faced any disconnection as such, but this is certainly the case in which the servers, at least for Chess.com, the servers in us are better. So, when you play with us, your move reaches the server faster. So you lose less time and that. There are these factors,” he added.

The Esports World Cup will take place between July 31 and August 3 of this year and will showcase a total of 16 players in the failure of failures – whose qualification will be decided through the Champions Chess Tour.

In addition to Arjun, the Russian director general Volodar Murzin – who had recently won the rapid world championship in New York in December – signed with the Vietnamese Esports -Chinese organization Ag Global.

US director general Nakamura, who also happens to be a popular streamer in addition to being one of the biggest chess stars in the world today, has signed with the Falcons team, the world champions of Esports. Also confirming his participation in the event after having signed with the Serbian Esports organization, Aurora Gaming, the director of Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi, who had controversial the title World Blitz with Carlsen at the `Big Apple ”.
