Arizona delivery driver’s viral note to Chipotle customer led TikTokers to fund his wedding

An Arizona delivery driver didn’t expect that a message he left with an order from Chipotle would get complete strangers online to pay for the wedding of his dreams.

Paul Slobodzian and his fiancée Aly Perkins had been delivering with Uber Eats for 18 months to save extra money for their upcoming wedding, the couple told Fox 10 Phoenix.

But their financial situation changed completely after delivering a meal to Erica Hernandez.

Just waiting for her food, Hernandez said she was touched by the Slobodzian letter attached to the bag.

“Something like, ‘Thank you for your order. I’m driving next door to give my fiancée the wedding she deserves,'” Hernandez said.

She was forced to not only donate to the romantic delivery driver’s cause, but also post her note on TikTok.

“I felt really inspired to put it out there and see if my friends would be willing to donate or if any followers that I had on there would be willing to donate,” she said.

Two hours later, the post went viral, attracting Slobodzian’s attention as well as that of 30 million users. Today, according to the couple, donations continue to come in.

“I never decided to leave these notes with the intention that someone would make a video about it or even try to distribute it to anyone other than the person I was delivering to,” Slobodzian said .

“Your phone just started blowing up,” his fiancée Perkins told Fox 10 this week.

“Yes, seriously and honestly, it hasn’t stopped since Friday afternoon,” Slobodzian said. “Thousands of messages from people supporting us.”

“We didn’t really expect anything from this and the fact that a stranger received our message and felt compelled to put it on the Internet and advocate for two strangers is incredible,” Perkins said.

In just one week, the couple raised enough money for their dream wedding. Now, they’re taking time off from food delivery to be together before their wedding.

Slobodzian took to TikTok to keep users informed, telling them they had raised more than enough money for their wedding. They were in the home stretch of fundraising when the TikTok about her note went viral.

They also donated $1,000 of the money raised to Hernandez for her help and extended her an invitation to their wedding, which she happily accepted, according to the outlet.
