At least one person died and several injured after a small business jet crashed on a plane parked upon arrival at Scottsdale airport in Arizona, just east of Phoenix on Monday afternoon.
The arrival plane belongs to the singer of Mötley Crüe Vince Neil, according to a representative of the singer. Neil was not on board, said the representative, Worrick Robinson, in a statement at CNN.
One person died in the accident and three were injured, the city spokesman Kelli Kuester said. Earlier, officials said four had been injured. The three injured were taken to hospitals, said Kuester.
Stakeholders still work to remove the body of the deceased victim, the captain of the Scottsdale fire service David Folio said on Monday. Police did not release names on board.
Two pilots and two passengers were aboard the Neil plane, according to Robinson.
The Learjet 35A plane arrived from Austin, Texas, when he left the track and crashed into a Gulfstream G200 jet, Kuester said at a press conference on Monday.
“It seems that the main left equipment failed landing, which led to the accident,” she said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is on the scene and directs the investigation into the incident, according to Kuester. In response to a CNN survey, the NTSB only said that it was investigating.
Scottsdale airport is a popular aviation center for private jets that enter and leave the Phoenix region, especially during major events such as the Open Golf Tournament for Waste Washing last weekend , which marks as the largest sporting event of zero waste in the world.
The Federal Aviation Administration briefly interrupted flights in the airport on one track after the accident, but a subsequent position of the X account of Scottsdale suggests that the track reopened on Monday evening.
The accident follows several aeronautical disasters in recent weeks, including a deadly outdoor collision near Washington, DC, who killed the 67 people on the two planes and the crash of a Medevac jet in Philadelphia who killed seven .
