Arab nations reject Trump’s call to move gas in neighboring countries

A key group of Arab nations said they “firmly” rejected all efforts to reinstall or expel the Palestinians from Gaza, after US President Donald Trump said he wanted to “clean” the enclave and move his population to neighboring countries.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt published a broad declaration on Saturday, claiming that they hoped to work with Trump on a two -state solution by the means -East.

But they rejected Trump’s suggestion to move the Palestinians from Gaza. Without specifically referenced the president’s proposal, the ministers reiterated a commitment to rebuild the enclave while guaranteeing “the continuous presence of the Palestinians in their native country”.

The nations “firmly rejected all the actions that threaten these rights, in particular the expansion of regulations, forced evictions, demolitions of homes, the annexation of land or the displacement of Palestinians by direct expulsion or binding migration”, They wrote after a meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo.

In January, Trump said that he had spoken with the King of Jordan about the potential housing construction elsewhere in the Middle East and to move more than a million Gaza Palestinians to neighboring countries.

“I told him that I would like you to take more, because I look at the whole Gaza band right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess,” he told journalists aboard the Air Force One. “You are talking about a million and a half people, and we clean it all.”

“I don’t know, something should happen, but it is literally a demolition site right now,” said Trump. “Almost everything is demolished, and people die there, so I prefer to get involved in some of the Arab nations and build housing in a different place where I think they might live in peace for a change. “”

The Declaration of the Arab Foreign Affairs Ministers addressed a range of subjects relating to the reconstruction of Gaza, because the fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel allows the region to assess the impact of a brutal conflict of 15 months.

The group welcomed “the important role played by the United States in facilitation of the agreement”, for which Trump and his predecessor Joe Biden asked for a credit.

They also “called for the total withdrawal of the Israeli Gaza forces and rejected any attempt to partition the band” and underlined the “essential role” of the United Nations Rescue and Work Agency for Refugees in Palestine or L ‘UNRWA, two days after the ban on Israel, the agency entered into force.
