On April 29, 1992, a jury from Simi Valley, California, acquitted four police officers from Los Angeles accused of assault and use of excessive force in the threshing video of the motorist Rodney King; The verdicts were followed by six days of riots in Los Angeles which destroyed hundreds of companies and had more than 60 deaths.
