April 2025 social security checks: here is when you are paid

Now that we are officially in April, social security payment has already been sent to recipients and the remaining three checks will follow in the coming weeks. Social security checks are sent to people who have asked for retirement, survivors or disability services.

When you receive your social security check is determined by checking how long you receive services, whether you receive additional benefits or on the day of your birth. If you don’t know when you should receive your payment, we will break it down.

Social Security payment schedule for April 2025

If you have received social security since May 1997	April 3
If your birthday is between the 1st and 10th of each month given	April 9
If your birthday is between 11 and 20 of each month given	April 16
If your birthday is between 21 and 31 of each month given	April 23

The way your payment date is determined is complex

Social security payments are generally paid from the second Wednesday of the month. The other two payments will be paid on two Wednesdays of the following month. What week you receive your payment depends on your date of birth. There is a large exception, which I will cover below.

1st and 10th	2nd Wednesday of the month
11th and 20	3rd Wednesday of the month
21 and 31	4th Wednesday of the month

Other government’s advantages will not be sent on the same day

If you have received social security services since before May 1997 or you receive both social security and additional security income, your payment schedule is not determined by your date of birth. Instead, payments are paid each month on the same date with a few exceptions that I will explain here.

Social security payments will be sent the 3rd of each month, while SSI payments are sent the 1st of each month. These dates sometimes change if the 1st or 3rd of the month falls on weekends or on vacation. For example, on March 3 of last year fell for a weekend, the beneficiaries of Social Security therefore received their payments from March two days earlier, on March 1.

The only advantages that are paid in the same appendix are social security and social security insurance.

Social paper security checks will soon disappear

In the event that you were not aware, a decree of the White House put an end to the use of social security checks in paper paper, the change taking place on September 30, 2025.

This decision is far from surprising if we consider that only 485,766 social security checks are sent each month, which is compared to 68,104,184 direct deposit payments made each month. Although it is undoubtedly an adjustment period for those who have received physical checks, the displacement of the postal payments to digital forms will increase safety. It is important to note that certain exclusions will be made for some people.

Is your social security verification missing? Try these steps

If your check does not appear when it is supposed to or at all, the Social Security Administration suggests waiting for three days of additional dispatch before contacting it. After that, you can call the number without national costs: 1-800-772-1213.

The SSA notes that “the waiting times to speak to a representative are generally shorter in the morning, later in the week and later in the month”. If you find it difficult to get SSA care through the national number, you can use its office locker to find a local office.
