Apple’s M4 will be present on all Macs launched in 2024 and 2025, starting with the MacBook Pro; The new M4 Pro and M4 Max are also in the works

The M4 was introduced with Apple’s 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro models, but the company has a broader strategy for the same SoC found in various Macs. In fact, one report says this will be the first time the company will offer the M4 across its entire Mac family, including exceptionally powerful desktops.

The new Mac Pro and Mac Studio, expected to arrive in the second half of 2025, will likely feature the powerful M4 Ultra.

The updated MacBook Pro models expected to arrive in Q4 2024 will likely be Apple’s first Mac members to benefit from the M4. Just like last year, the tech giant is expected to announce a trio of laptops, starting with the base 14-inch model, followed by the slightly powerful version with the same screen size and a variant larger by 16 inches. As for the rest of the lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has provided an update regarding the launches below and says the Mac Pro and Mac Studio will be revealed and feature the latest Apple Silicon.

“There has been some speculation online about when to expect the M4 Mac lineup, which I first wrote about months ago. After checking, I see no change in schedule. The M4 iMacs, MacBook Pros (low-end and high-end versions), and Mac mini (also low-end and high-end models) are expected between late 2024 and early 2025. The new MacBook Airs will arrive in spring 2025, and the models Mac Pro and Mac Studio will arrive around the second half of next year. This will be the first time Apple has offered a new family of chips in every Mac it makes. The move follows the addition of the M4 to the iPad Pro in May.

Earlier, we reported that the Mac Pro and Mac Studio were planned alongside the M4 Ultra, hinting that we’ll see the M4 Pro and M4 Max before the M4 Ultra arrives. While we don’t have any rumors or performance estimates at the moment, the M4’s capabilities certainly have us excited for future launches, as the 10-core CPU version of the 3nm SoC easily beats competition like the Snapdragon M3 Pro performs in both single-core and multi-core, while being up to 45% faster than the M2 and M3 in Geekbench 6.

In addition, the performance of the 9-core CPU member is also not limited, as its performance is close to that of the 10-core version. Since the new MacBook Pro models will have a more capable cooling solution, it is possible that Apple will modify the M4 to run at higher clock speeds and offer even higher single-core and multi-core score pupil. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the official launch later this year to find out.
