Apple Vision Pro: The First Five Months and Beyond

The Apple Vision Pro is so much more than that. But for us, and many other users, it’s one thing in particular: a display that’s really, really, Really big screen. Since Apple began shipping its spatial computing headset five months ago today, we’ve tested the device as a TV, a computer monitor, a gaming console, an ultra-chillish way to relax on the beach, and more.

In this episode of The VergecastWe talk about the past, present and future of the Vision Pro. We chat with The edgeWes Davis and Victoria Song talk to us about their experience with the device, what they liked about it, and what they’d like to change. It’s pretty clear that the first version of the device wasn’t a groundbreaking or commercial success, so what’s next? Apple is reportedly working on a cheaper model with significantly lower-resolution displays, but does that diminish the appeal of that very large screen? We have some thoughts and ideas for Apple.

After that, to get another perspective on the Vision Pro’s first five months, we spoke with the phones behind one of the platform’s funniest apps. The app is called Television and was created by the folks at Sandwich. They talk to us about the process of creating a headset app without access to a headset, what they think about the future of the Vision Pro, and how the headset app market is really evolving.

Finally, back to the future of the Vision Pro and answering a question from the hotline about how to make Apple’s wearable more… portable. I still can’t believe I’m saying this, but: the answer might be plastic.
