The Completely Invented Adventures of Dick Turpin is no more.
Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy was cut short after Noel Fielding pulled out about three-quarters of the way through filming.
The Sun the newspaper reported on it for the first time That of Dick Turpin disappearance. Deadline understands that season 2 cannot be salvaged and that producer Big Talk Studios has disbanded the cast and crew.
The Sun rreported that Fielding “couldn’t come to work” in early 2025 after the series went on hiatus for the Christmas holidays.
Apple, Big Talk and Fielding’s representative at PBJ Management have been contacted for comment.
In the irreverent account of the life of the 18th-century highwayman, Turpin is the most famous but unlikely of thieves, whose success is defined primarily by his charm, showmanship and beautiful hair. With his gang of adorable thieves, Turpin rides the ups and downs of his new projects, including his encounter with fame.
The first season of the historical comedy also featured British comics including Ellie White, Dolly Wells and Mark Heap, and Apple said season 2 would feature “a host of great British comedy talent.”
Written by Fielding, Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain, the series was produced by Kenton Allen, Fielding, Victoria Grew, Anthony Wilcox and Ben Palmer, while Naylor and Brittain serve as co-EPs. Palmer also directs.
