Apple TV and Peacock will be available starting next week in a bundle starting at $14.99 per month.
NBCUniversal and Apple said customers will save more than 30% off the full retail price of the service, which hits the market Monday. Apple TV is ad-free and can be bundled with the ad-supported Peacock Premium or the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus. The latter plan costs $19.99 per month.
For NBCU, the deal follows comprehensive distribution deals with Amazon and Google/YouTube and kicks off in time for the NBA’s arrival. A regular selection of games under the long-term rights agreement will be exclusively available on Peacock.
For Apple, the partnership follows the decision to remove the “plus” from the name of the 6-year-old streaming service. The partnership is also unique for Apple in that it offers Apple One Home or Premier tier subscribers a 35% discount. While Apple TV+ had previously been included in some plans like Comcast’s StreamSaver plan, the tech giant had never allowed a discount on Apple One, its broader service plan.
Streaming bundles offered by third-party companies remain somewhat unusual, but Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney have created one for HBO Max, Disney+ and Hulu in 2024 and the incentives are clear for other bundles to follow. While there are cost savings for customers and programmers, bundles like Apple-Peacock’s don’t address the larger frictions of navigating a sea of content.
However, in an effort to alleviate this friction, NBCU and Apple have agreed to place select programming on the partner service’s app. This means Peacock subscribers will get free access to three episodes of Apple TV shows Stick, Slow horses, Silo, The buccaneers, Foundation, Royal Palm And Prehistoric planet. Users of the Apple TV application will be able to watch up to three episodes of Law and order, Bel Air, Twisted metal, love island games, The place of happiness, The hunting party And The Real Housewives of Miami of Peacock.
“There is no more perfect entertainment combination than the Apple TV and Peacock Bundle, with our complementary content portfolios featuring the best shows, movies, sports and live events,” said Matt Strauss, president of NBCUniversal Media Group. “With this first-of-its-kind initiative with Apple, we are redefining what the customer journey for a streaming plan should be with rich sampling and a seamless signup process, and we are expanding Peacock’s reach to even more audiences.” »
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple TV, Apple Music, Sports and Beats, said the bundle “brings together the best of entertainment in one simple, seamless experience.”
