Apple is trying to delay the decision that intends it to reduce external application payments

In an attempt to protect a precious source of income, Apple is trying to delay a court decision that obliges the company to leave iOS application developers in the United States redirect users to external payment systems and to avoid paying a commission to the iPhone manufacturer.

The company filed an emergency request late on Wednesday, asking a court of appeal to grant a partial suspension on a previous decision.

Last week, an American court ruled in favor of epic matches in a long -standing case against Apple, after judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers noted that Apple had not complied with an order which was made in 2021.

The new leader requires Apple to leave applications on its American App Store includes features that could redirect users to external systems to make purchases, stop collecting commissions on these payments and stop showing “frightening screens” – pop -up messages warning users of the dangers of making integrated purchases from non -apple systems.

Apple now requests a stay on the prohibitions of “invoice a reduction in transactions that users make via external purchase links and to define all the conditions on the language or the placement of links or other references to external purchase options.”

Apple argues that the new decision is unjustified, claiming that it “considerably” increases the scope of the previous injunction, because the court did not initially prevent the company from invoicing commissions on non -Papple payment systems – Apple had not started to do so at the time.

Apple says that he respected the 2021 court injunction by allowing developers to connect to non -apple payment systems. We must note that he billed the application developers a reduction of 27% of these transactions anyway, in addition to displaying the “fear screens” described above.

The new order would result in significant losses, said the company. “These restrictions, which will cost the substantial sums to Apple annually, are based on a conduct which has never been deemed (and is not) illegal; they have rather been imposed to punish Apple for alleged non-compliance of an injunction prior to the State law which is itself invalid,” he said during the file.

“Without stay, these extraordinary intrusions in Apple’s activities will cause serious irreparable damage,” said society.

The iPhone manufacturer appealed against the court decision earlier this week. The company has already respected the command and allows developers to link users to complete purchases outside the Ecosystem of the App Store. Companies like Spotify and Amazon have already updated their applications to redirect users to their own websites for payments.
