Samsung recently unveiled a slew of new products at its Unpacked event, including phones, watches, and even a new smart ring. But while the latter represents a potentially exciting new product category, some of the other tech feels a little… familiar.
Tech fans have taken to Twitter (sorry, X) in droves to complain that the new Galaxy Watch Ultra looks (at least externally) like a blatant copy of the Apple Watch Ultra. And that’s not all, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are also being closely compared to Apple’s AirPods Pro. (Looking for new gear? Check out the best Apple Watch Amazon Prime deals available right now.)
Aside from the similar naming conventions, it’s hard to argue that the Galaxy Watch Ultra isn’t very (very) inspired by the Apple Watch Ultra. It has a nearly identical orange band, and the red “night mode” display featured in the ad blurb looks almost ridiculously similar.

And while Samsung’s Galaxy previously featured a fully in-ear design that differentiated them from Apple’s offering, the addition of a stem makes them look incredibly similar to AirPods. And they work in exactly the same way, with the stem’s swipe and press motions to pause and adjust volume.
Samsung claimed in a press release that the change was due to “a variety of statistical data collected” suggesting that a stem shape produces better in-ear comfort and stability. But netizens aren’t convinced. “Samsung is now blindly copying Apple. They’ve simply ruined a good design and comfort,” one Samsung fan commented on X.
We’ll wait until we get our hands on the tech to give our full verdict, but it looks like Samsung has clearly taken a cue from its Cupertino rival when it comes to design. Which makes its ads mocking Apple even more hypocritical.
